Urban Legend or Fact? Mt. Pleasant, Michigan's Broadway Theatre

The Vaudette Theatre
Some people believe that Mt. Pleasant's old Vaudette Theatre and the Broadway Theatre may share the same location. Evidence indicates that they are in different locations. Pictured below are Vaudette owners Charles Carnahan and James McCabe in 1914. McCabe would later be a part owner of the Broadway Theatre in 1920.

A Tunnel
People tell of a tunnel used by performers to secretly escape the theatre. There is actually a long tunnel in the theatre, which runs from the old orchestra pit to the furnace room in the front of the theatre. A cold wind blows through it. About four feet high, it is a mechanical tunnel and cold air return. So far, we have found no obvious evidence of a tunnel exiting the building.

A Trap Door
Story has it that a magician once had a trap door in the stage floor used in his disappearing act. A trap door is not obvious, but the two little doors beside the stage may make a person wonder.
